The First Post

This blog is an online compilation of my notes for the next 18 months. It will capture the advice I receive, the resources I find, and the actions I've taken. Hopefully it will be a resource (of many available) to those that follow in their transition from the military service.

It was 4 weeks ago that my wife and I decided that we were going to be retiring from the Navy at the end of next year (end of 2016 . . . in about 18 months). We made this decision a little earlier than most, who usually decide about 12 months out. The timing of the decision was driven by the detailing orders cycle.

A whole lot has happened in the 4 weeks since the decision and I'll unpack those events over the next couple of posts; but to quickly capture the major muscle movements over the last 4 weeks:
- Decision made
- Informally notified my mentors , close friends, and chain of command
- Formally notified the Navy
- Attended one day Pre-Seperation Course
- Attended one day LinkedIn seminar

To keep this blog as useful as possible, I'll try to keep the post titles relevant to the topics covered in the blog posts. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or suggestions either through the comment section, LinkedIn, or personal email.
